Data and Ethics

Snowball is not a corporation. It is a non-profit, semi-structured organisation. There is a so-called ‘Snowboard’ of well-connected individuals that invite participants and help curate content for our events. We function principally as a community of friends. As such, we are fixated about supporting, encouraging and looking after each other.

Snowball exists to introduce interesting people and help them engage with fresh ideas.

There are only a few rules that we believe are important to protect the community so please adhere to them.

Courtesy and Respect

With very few exceptions, all Snowball events are private. To qualify for inclusion, every delegate will have been personally invited by a Snowboard member. They're a fussy lot and the arduous selection process has been designed to ensure that everyone at Snowball is pretty remarkable. So please treat everyone with the respect and courtesy that you would expect in return.

No pushy salespeople

Snowball is about making friends. Friends may want to buy from each other and that is a glorious outcome. However, no one wants to be pinned down by an over-zealous seller who can't spot the lack of buying signals. Pressure selling is an ugly business so please don't bring it to Snowball. Flagrant pleadings for funding are equally frowned upon. Last but not least, subsequent spamming of delegates with 'opportunities' of any sort is likely to result in ritual crucifixion.

DATA POLICY

Snowball has an aversion to surveillance capitalism and Spam. We don’t do anything dubious with participants’ data. We collect and retain email and phone records purely to communicate news about upcoming events and to coordinate activities.

Honesty

Snowball aims to be completely straightforward in its dealings with delegates. We expect delegates to behave in the same manner. Please be open about your business and personal accomplishments so as not to misguide people. The fact that you have been selected for an invitation means you have no need to brag.
